Wednesday Stamp Club

Welcome to this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp Club! You can find this week's sketch as well as the list of participants from the design team over at the MFT blog, and more detail on how you can win a little MFT cash when you participate yourself! July Teasers start next week, so a bit of extra spending money could be just the ticket for the upcoming release. Ü

Needing two sympathy cards this week, I pulled out Peaceful Wildflowers for my card and stamped silhouettes in Steel Blue and one of the sentiments in Black Licorice onto my Die-namics Heirloom Label.

This photo shows the Heirloom Label in detail so you can see where I've sprayed it with Mix-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist mixed with Blu Raspberry ink refill. Three Steel Grey buttons embellish the corner where the original sketch calls for a bloom. I'll be mailing this card, so I thought the buttons might fare better than a flower embellishment.

The inside of the card is very simply stamped with a duo of brushstrokes from Abstract Art in Sno Cone and Steel Blue with an additional sentiment from Peaceful Wildflowers in Black Licorice ink. Stamping the sentiment in the corner allowed extra room for my personal message.

I hope you'll have a little time to stamp along with this week's sketch and share your creation with us at Splitcoast using keyword MFTWSC130. Remember to stop over at the MFT blog for more inspiration. Have a great Wednesday, and thanks for stopping by today!

June Creative Challenge: Make It Masculine!

It's time for MFT's monthly Creative Challenge, and this month's theme is Make it Masculine! The MFT Blog has a complete list of participating designers, so stop by to see who's on deck. I've come up with a couple of fun 'guy' cards to share with you, so let's get started!

First up is a fun surfer-dude birthday card using the new Die-namics Palm Tree, High-Rise Alphabet Lowercase, Sea Charms and stamps from Hello My Name Is. I stamped the name tag in white pigment ink onto my Black Licorice card base and then added a layer of corrugated 'beach sand' using the Snow Drifts Die-namics.

The bottom of each of the Blu Raspberry letters in 'dude' was die cut into the sand layer and then accented with an Orange Fizz surf board from the Die-namics Sea Charms set. The Steel Blue Palm Tree is tucked behind the sandy beach, and holding it all together is a double string of Hemp Cord, knotted several times to resemble one of those hemp bracelets that all the cool surfer dudes wear around their wrist or ankle, wink!

The inside of the card is finished off with a Die-namics Speech Bubble in Steel Blue, stamped with sentiments from Hello My Name Is and Playlist.  I die cut another Speech Bubble in Blu Raspberry , tore off a smidge of the lower edge, dragged the torn edge across my white pigment ink pad to resemble foamy ocean waves and accented it with Hemp Cord and another Orange Fizz surf board.

It's Your Birthday, Dude!

I had a lot of fun making this card which started with only the strip where you see 'it's hammer TIME', until I started singing MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This over and over in my head until it dawned on me (duh) to add some of the sentiments from  Playlist and Rock On. Another one of those ah-ha moments where these MFT stamps work so well together to make a fun card even funnier!

The main sentiment strip was made using the new Max Alphabet in Steel Blue ink with a Black Licorice hammer from Die-namics Tool Charms. The word IT'S is a partial sentiment from Playlist. Each of the sentiments above and below the Steel Blue strip is stamped in watermark ink.

Inside is another Steel Blue strip stamped with sentiments from Playlist and single star from Rock On.

It's Hammer Time

Thanks for stopping in today, and I hope I've inspired you with my Creative Challenge: Make it Masculine projects today! Be sure to stop back tomorrow for Wednesday Stamp Club and have a great day!

Friday Fun {Red Hot 2}

I'm back with another hot color combo for you using MFT's Red HotLast week's combo was Red Hot + Orange Fizz, and this week's I've switched out Orange Fizz for Nightshift Blue. This combo inspires visions of all things nautical and the 4th of July, and although I have nothing in the nautical realm for you today, I do have a little 4th of July treat using last week's WSC #128 sketch.

This is You're So Special to Me colored in patriotic colors and fussy cut before layering her on a Sweet Tooth rectangle stamped with the snapshot definition from Captured Memories. She's just too cute all Betsy Ross'd!

To further accentuate her star status, I stamped one of the narrow brushstrokes from Abstract Art three time in Lemon Drop ink to create a shooting star trail. The Lemon Drop star is from Blueprints 4.  More stars can be seen in the Nightshift Blue layer which was cut with Scattered Stars Die-namics.

I carried on the Red Hot + Nightshift Blue color combination on the inside with a pop of Lemon Drop using the same Abstract Art brushstroke, a sentiment from Bold Statements (this month's Triple Scoop Set) and a tiny star from my Scattered Stars border on the front.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed the Red Hot + Nightshift Blue combination, and it inspires you to give it a whirl! Have a great weekend, all!
